Stranger Than Heaven is an action-adventure game that tells a story spanning five decades about men who have no place to call home. The game follows Makoto Daito’s journey across five cities and eras in an alternate version of modern Japanese history. In 1915 San Francisco, young Makoto secretly boards a ship to travel to Japan in search of a new beginning. As the son of an American father and a Japanese mother, he has faced discrimination and lost everything. The journey to his mother’s homeland sets off a chain of events that will permanently change the course of his life.
The story takes the player through five different eras and cities in an alternate version of Japan: Kokura 1915, Kure 1929, Osaka 1943, Atami 1951, and Shinjuku 1965. Each city is full of the culture, conflicts, and opportunities of its time.
Survival requires raw combat skills. The dynamic combat system allows intuitive control of the character’s movements, combining attacks, blocks, and counters, and utilizing a diverse arsenal of weapons from knives to katanas. Violent confrontations are an essential part of Makoto’s journey through the eras.
Alongside fighting, Makoto discovers his talent for music and rises to stardom in the entertainment world. Gather inspiration from the surrounding world, find performers, create your own songs from everyday sounds, and design spectacular performances that captivate audiences across Japan.
