The DJI RS 5 combines advanced subject tracking, precise balancing, and a lightweight frame capable of supporting extensive camera setups in one device. It offers photographers stability, reliable control, and powerful working features for various situations. The new suitcase handle makes control easier, and fast charging along with longer battery life ensures uninterrupted shooting.
The DJI RS 5 utilizes the RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking module, allowing the subject to be framed and selected directly from the gimbal’s touchscreen. The system can track a person from up to 10 meters away and can reacquire the subject even if it temporarily leaves the frame. It supports tracking modes for people, vehicles, and pets.
The fifth-generation stabilization algorithm and 50 percent greater motor torque than before improve stability both while walking and during faster movements, offering a balanced combination of control and smooth motion.
The gimbal weighs 1.46 kilograms including the battery handle and quick-release plates. It supports vertical shooting without additional accessories and can carry camera setups weighing up to 3 kilograms. This makes the RS 5 a versatile tool compatible with most mirrorless cameras and common lenses.
Examples of compatible models include Sony FX3 and A7M4, Canon R5 Mark II, Nikon Z6 III and Z7 II, Panasonic S5M2, and Fujifilm X-T5.
The electronic suitcase handle offers an intuitive one-handed grip. The handle’s joystick and buttons enable control of the gimbal and camera during rapidly changing angles. Usability is especially improved in low and dynamic shooting situations.
The RS 5’s standard battery provides approximately 14 hours of standby time and fully charges in one hour. Charging is 60 percent faster than the previous generation, and battery life has improved by 15 percent.
An optional BG70 high-capacity battery handle is also available, which can extend standby time up to 30 hours and supports PD fast charging.
Fine-tuning knobs and Teflon interlayers make balancing smooth and precise even with heavier setups. Second-generation automatic axis locks speed up the transition to shooting readiness and make transportation easier.
Native vertical shooting is possible in seconds by rotating the quick-release plate 90 degrees. Dual-layer quick-release plates allow seamless switching between tripod and gimbal without rebalancing.
The RS 5 supports DJI Focus Pro motors, enabling users to control zoom and focus. Additionally, support for DJI SDR transmission allows HD streaming, remote control, and Force Mobile functions for small production teams. The RSA interface port enables accessory attachment and third-party developed expansions.
