The Anker eufyCam 2 Pro surveillance system comes with two cameras that are completely wireless and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
In the refreshed 2 Pro model, the most significant upgrades are in the camera’s resolution and overall image quality. Now boasting a 2K resolution of 2048 x 1080, the camera delivers sharper and more detailed images with improved color and light accuracy. The already impressive night vision has also seen enhancements, primarily due to the F2.0 aperture, which allows the camera to capture more light. Externally, there are no visible changes to the camera or system.
Setting up the cameras is as easy as any other wireless surveillance camera system. Included is the HomeBase 2 hub, which connects initially via an Ethernet cable to your network device (modem/router, internet connection required), while the cameras establish a secure wireless connection to the hub. The hub can also function as a wireless bridge, allowing it to connect to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network after setup, freeing you to place it more flexibly without the Ethernet cable. This feature is particularly handy when the router is in a tricky spot or if the camera installation area is far from the router. The system can be managed and operated via Android or iOS devices, and you can also view live footage through a web browser on your computer.
The included hub comes with 16 GB of built-in EMMC storage for camera recordings. The camera utilizes the highly efficient new H.265 video compression, allowing for excellent storage efficiency. The 16 GB of storage can hold about 2000 minutes of recordings, which is roughly over 30 hours. Additionally, the hub features a dedicated circuit that encrypts all recordings using 256-bit AES encryption! There’s also a USB port on the hub, although it’s not used for storage.
The cameras support intelligent motion detection technology built directly into the cameras themselves. They can recognize people in the frame, significantly reducing false alerts (intelligent motion detection operates during the day/when it’s bright – at night, motion detection relies on temperature changes). The motion sensor can detect movement from up to 10 meters away. Plus, users can set up to three distinct active detection zones in the camera’s view. The camera sends immediate notifications for motion or sound detection and starts recording. Each recording can last up to 120 seconds, and if motion or sound continues, the camera will initiate a new recording.
The cameras are powered by a built-in battery with an impressive capacity of 13,400 mAh (the battery is not replaceable). This large battery combined with intelligent recording can provide up to a year of battery life under optimal conditions! You can recharge the camera’s battery directly through the hub’s USB port or use a separate USB power source (5 V, 2 A).
On top of all this, the eufyCam 2 Pro supports both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant virtual assistants. The camera also has full Apple HomeKit support, along with support for Apple HomeKit Secure Video.
The camera’s battery life is significantly affected by operating temperature, wireless network strength, camera usage, and the number of motion detections.
