The compact Vaude Rotstein 450 DWN sleeping bag is an extremely lightweight and warm down sleeping bag for hiking. This 3-season sleeping bag is suitable for use from spring to early autumn. The draft collar and hood can be quickly and easily adjusted with the drawstring system. The filling consists of 450 g of high-quality water-repellent 800 cuin duck down, sourced according to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). The shape of the sleeping bag is designed to optimize even heat distribution.
The outer shell is 100% recycled polyester and the filling is 90% duck down, 10% duck feathers; 800+ cuin. The sleeping bag features a water-repellent Eco Finish coating and is made without perfluorocarbons (PFC). The Vaude Green Shape label signifies environmentally friendly, functional products made from sustainable materials.
The comfort temperature of the sleeping bag refers to the lowest comfortable sleeping temperature. The comfort temperature is indicative due to varying individual tolerance. It is also called the women’s temperature because women generally feel colder more easily. The limit temperature means you can still sleep comfortably if you have a good sleeping pad, have eaten enough, and tolerate cold like an average person. Comfort temperature (comfort, women): 28 °F (-2 °C) and limit temperature (limit, men): 17.6 °F (-8 °C).
The extreme temperature indicates the lowest temperature at which a person can survive overnight in the sleeping bag. Sleeping at the extreme temperature is only intermittent and the sleeping bag should not be chosen based on this temperature. Comfort and warmth while sleeping in the bag can be improved with a proper sleeping pad, liner, and by preventing drafts and moisture buildup in the sleeping area. Adequate hydration and energy intake also help maintain warmth. Extreme temperature: -14.8 °F (-26 °C).
It is recommended to pack the sleeping bag by stuffing it into its protective sack. For long-term storage, the sleeping bag should be aired out for about a day occasionally to maintain the insulation properties. After use, always dry the sleeping bag before storing it.
