The Tamron 17–70 mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD combines the best features of many lenses. It is compact and lightweight, with a zoom range suitable for most photography, from wide-angle landscapes to portraits, and it offers creamy bokeh. With its excellent minimum focusing distance, it is also suitable for macro photography. Additionally, Tamron has maintained an f/2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range!
The lens starts at 17 mm wide-angle, ideal for landscape and architectural photography, and extends up to 70 mm, which is perfect for portrait photography. In this range, it is the world’s first ultra-fast f/2.8 zoom lens for mirrorless APS-C cameras, achieving a 4.1x zoom ratio.
The lens is equipped with Tamron’s VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism to minimize camera shake and a dedicated separate MPU processor exclusively for vibration compensation. The result is faster and more accurate autofocus, as well as consistently more effective image stabilization.
The optical construction of the Tamron 17-70 mm F/2.8 lens consists of 16 elements in 12 groups. Two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements and one hybrid aspherical lens element are precisely arranged to maintain high-resolution performance from edge to edge. The lens aperture consists of nine blades to create creamy bokeh. Thanks to the excellent optical design, the zoom can focus as close as 0.19 meters, making it excellent for macro photography as well.
