The Roland VAD516 combines the feel and appearance of an acoustic drum set with the digital technology of the V-Drums series. This five-drum set includes deep wooden shells, a full-size bass drum, and high-quality digital pads that offer a versatile and realistic playing experience. The expandable V51 sound module uses the same advanced drum sound engine as the top-level V71, ensuring diverse sound options, and the set is suitable for gigging, studio recording, and home playing alike.
The VAD516 is designed to look and feel like an acoustic drum set. The full-size 20″ bass drum and PDA series toms (10″, 12″, and 14″) with quiet dual-layer mesh heads provide an authentic feel. The PD-14DSX snare recognizes hand position and rim shots, adding expressiveness to playing. The entire set is equipped with double-reinforced hardware, ensuring a sturdy and stable structure.
Digital cymbals, such as the CY-18DR ride cymbal, CY-12C-T and CY-14R-T crash cymbals, offer natural response and versatile triggering options. The VH-14D hi-hat accurately detects open and closed positions, and muting is possible with a touch, enhancing playing dynamics.
The V51 module includes a wide selection of drum sounds and allows for set expansion. Through Bluetooth connectivity, you can stream music directly to the module, and with USB-C and MIDI connections, playing is easy to integrate with a computer or other devices. The module also features a coach function with practice tools such as a phrase trainer and hit monitor.
The set supports wireless operation and a smartphone app that simplifies managing expansions and adjusting module settings. Roland Cloud continuously offers new sound packs and expansions to further develop your playing.
The drum set is sold without a hi-hat stand, snare stand, drum throne, and bass drum pedal, which can be purchased separately. The setup can be expanded, for example, with a personal drum monitor and various accessory packages that complement the playing setup.
