The Roland VAD316 V-Drums electronic drum set offers a five-piece acoustic design drum experience, combining wooden, low tom shells and a full-size bass drum. This set is designed to provide the feel and layout of a traditional acoustic kit while allowing precise volume control. The V31 sound module delivers advanced drum sounds and practice tools, as well as wireless connectivity to Roland Cloud, where you can download additional sound expansions and other content.

Acoustic feel and construction of the electronic drums

The VAD316’s tom pads are made of wood with low shells, providing a natural tone and feel. The full-size 18″ bass drum uses an innovative head-mounted sensor system that expands the trigger area and allows for an adjustable beater. The snare is a 12″ PDA120LS model with a tunable mesh head and rimshot capability, making cross-stick technique easy.

Versatile pads and cymbals

The set includes two crash cymbals (12″ and 14″) and a 16″ ride cymbal, all featuring natural response, multiple trigger zones, and mute functionality. The VH-10 hi-hat is mounted on a traditional hi-hat stand (sold separately), allowing natural open/close control. Additionally, the set has two extra trigger inputs for additional instruments or digital pads.

Module and connectivity

The V31 sound module houses the same engine as the Roland V71 and V51 models, offering versatile and high-quality drum sounds. The module includes built-in coaching features such as a phrase trainer and hit monitor, along with Melodics content to support practice. Via USB-C, the module functions as a multichannel audio and MIDI device, and Bluetooth audio enables music streaming from mobile devices. Wireless connectivity simplifies managing expansions and controlling module functions through a smartphone app.

Rack solutions and setup

The set includes three sturdy DCS-30 drum combination racks, providing good stability and versatile mounting options. Assembly is easy with the included tools, and the overall design suits home practice, studio use, and live performances.

Expandability

Through Roland Cloud, you can continuously download additional sound expansions and other content, increasing the creative possibilities of the drum set over time. The module also supports optional personal drum monitor sets and other V-Drums accessories sold separately.
