The Riedel Vinum Cognac Hennessy is the only true glass model designed specifically for cognac. In the small bowl of the glass, the alcohol doesn’t overpower the experience, allowing it to settle along the rim. The outwardly curved rim directs the liquid in a fine stream to the tip of your tongue, emphasizing the fruitiness and aged character of the spirits.

Traditional balloon glasses are the worst enemy of cognac. Their shape amplifies the alcohol content and directs the drink straight to the throat, where the burn of the alcohol becomes pronounced. From a balloon glass, cognac can taste strong, bitter, and stale. In the Cognac region of France, tulip-shaped glasses are used because they are the only type that truly showcases the authentic qualities of cognac.

The Vinum series is Riedel’s first machine-blown glass collection, launched back in 1986. Designed from the ground up with taste in mind, it offers unique shapes tailored to each beverage. Made in Germany, these glasses are crafted from high-quality lead crystal and can withstand machine washing at least 1,500 times according to the DIN EN12875-1/2:2005 standard.
