A weather-resistant battery-powered surveillance camera equipped with excellent 4K resolution and a motorized (Pan/Tilt) body. The camera resolution is as high as 3840 x 2160 and it also features intelligent motion detection, a memory card slot, and two-way audio.
The Reolink Argus Series B440 surveillance camera operates on battery and only requires a wireless Wi-Fi network (5 GHz / 2.4 GHz) to function. By default, the camera uses the built-in battery/power, but it can also be used indoors with mains power (power adapter not included). Additionally, a separately sold solar panel can be used with the camera, which almost eliminates the need for charging during summer months. The camera’s battery life per charge averages 1–4 weeks depending on settings, usage, and temperature. The camera automatically sends a warning notification when the battery drops to 10%.
The Argus Series B440 camera has a maximum resolution of 4K, 3840 x 2160, with a 110° diagonal viewing angle. The camera body is motorized, allowing the image to be rotated both horizontally and vertically.
The camera also features a passive infrared sensor, meaning motion detection is based on temperature variations. Under optimal conditions, the camera can detect motion up to 10 meters away. The passive infrared sensor’s functionality is enhanced with support for intelligent motion detection. Notifications sent by the camera take on a new meaning when motion detection is configured to respond only to vehicles, people, or pets.
The camera naturally also has night vision, allowing it to be used in complete darkness. In addition to traditional black-and-white IR night vision, the Argus Series B440 includes two small LED lights that enable vibrant color images even in darkness or low light.
When motion is detected, the camera can send a notification and start recording to a separately purchased memory card (max. 128 GB, card sold separately). The Argus Series B440 also supports the newer and more advanced H.265 video compression, which enables recordings with better efficiency.
The camera supports two-way audio, featuring a built-in speaker and microphone. It also supports time-lapse videos. The camera can be set to take pictures at desired intervals, automatically creating a video from the image series. Use cases are endless: monitoring construction progress, spring awakening of plants, traffic flow observation, sunrise – and more!
The camera is operated and managed with the easy-to-use Reolink app, available for both Android and iOS devices. Finnish is selectable as the app’s language.
At the end of April 2022, Reolink launched cloud recording for selected Reolink camera models. Users can choose from Basic Plan, Standard Plan, and Premier Plan storage options. The Basic Plan can be activated for one Reolink camera and is currently free. The Basic Plan stores 7 days of recording history in the cloud (max. 1 GB). Standard and Premier plans are paid services offering longer recording history, support for multiple cameras, more storage space, and better alert notifications (depending on the camera).
Learn more about the service and terms here. Cloud recording is optional and works alongside memory card recording. Terms and prices of the cloud service may change in the future.
Battery life is significantly affected by operating temperature, wireless signal strength, camera usage, and the number of motion detections.
