The Reolink Argus 3 Ultra is a battery-powered surveillance camera that connects to a wireless Wi-Fi network and also features LED lights. Other features include smart motion detection, two-way audio, traditional night vision, and a memory card slot.
The LED lights on the Reolink Argus 3 Ultra camera activate upon motion detection and enable vivid color images even in complete darkness. However, users can also opt to use traditional black-and-white night vision with IR lights. The camera’s resolution is an impressive 4K, 3480 x 2160 with a 125° angle. Thanks to intelligent PIR motion detection, the camera can distinguish people, vehicles, and pets in the image. Notifications sent by the camera gain new significance when motion detection is set to respond only to vehicles and people. The camera operates on a built-in 21.6 Wh rechargeable battery. It also supports the separately sold Solar 2 solar panel (USB-C connection).
The camera also has a memory card slot (max. 128 GB, card sold separately), allowing local recording triggered by motion detection. The Argus 3 Ultra also supports interval video (time-lapse). The camera is set to take pictures at desired intervals, and the series of images automatically forms a video. Use cases are endless: monitoring construction progress, spring awakening of plants, traffic flow monitoring, sunrise – and more!
The camera connects to a wireless 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network and is operated and managed via the user-friendly Reolink app, available for both Android and iOS devices.
Reolink Cloud service:
At the end of April 2022, Reolink launched cloud storage for selected Reolink camera models. Users can choose from Basic Plan, Standard Plan, and Premier Plan storage options. The Basic Plan can be activated for one Reolink camera and is currently free. The Basic Plan stores 7 days of recording history in the cloud (max. 1 GB). The Standard and Premier plans are paid services offering longer recording history, support for multiple cameras, more storage space, and better alert notifications (depending on the camera).
Learn more about the service and terms here. Cloud storage is optional and works alongside memory card recording. Terms and prices of the cloud service may change in the future.
Note: the camera’s battery can last over a month. Battery life is significantly affected by operating temperature, wireless signal strength, camera usage, and the number of motion detections. Active use and recordings last about 500 minutes per charge.
