The Panasonic LUMIX S5 IIX offers professional video recording features such as All-Intra, ProRes recording to SSD via USB, Apple ProRes RAW recording via HDMI, as well as wired/wireless IP streaming. All of this is packed into a compact full-frame camera body that includes an advanced Hybrid Phase Detection AF system, enhanced Active I.S. image stabilizer, and a new 24-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor.
Autofocus
The S5 IIX uses a new Phase Hybrid AF system that combines phase detection and contrast-based focusing. This fast and reliable system provides 779-area measurement and can detect subjects even in challenging conditions such as low light and backlighting. Once the subject is locked, the system tracks it even if there are other moving objects in the frame. Continuous autofocus during zoom and autofocus micro-adjustment are also possible.
New sensor
Panasonic has developed a new 24.2-megapixel 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor. The imaging engine has also been redeveloped to achieve high resolution, natural imaging, and approximately 2x faster signal processing for high bit-rate video recording.
Image stabilizer
The S5 IIX features a powerful image stabilization system suitable for a wide range of shooting conditions and situations. By combining the camera’s Body I.S. with the LUMIX S series lens O.I.S., the 5-axis Dual I.S. correction power is maximized to allow shutter speeds up to 6.5 stops slower. Additionally, Active I.S. has been added for even more stable video recording. Active I.S. detects the camera shake mode and optimizes horizontal, vertical, and rotational correction ratios. As a result, the image stabilizer performance is maximized, achieving about 200% greater camera shake compensation compared to traditional image stabilization.
Professional video
The LUMIX S5IIX can be the choice for serious videographers. The LUMIX S5IIX offers high video recording capabilities comparable to the cinema camera LUMIX S1H. They provide 4:2:0 10-bit 6K (17:9 or 3:2) / 5.9K (16:9), unlimited 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K recording capacity. Thanks to the new heat dissipation mechanism, there are no recording time limits due to overheating issues.
The LUMIX S5IIX supports All-Intra, ProRes recording to SSD via USB. In addition, it features wired/wireless IP streaming and USB tethering. Apple ProRes RAW recording is also possible via HDMI RAW output to the Atomos Ninja V+ video recorder.
The camera offers 14+ stops of V-Log/V-Gamut recording, providing high dynamic range and wide color gamut.
A REAL-TIME LUT function is available, allowing color grading on compatible video and images in-camera by applying LUTs (.VLT/.cube) stored on the SD memory card. Users can perform appropriate color grading on-site without post-production and share images online on social media platforms. This function can also be used during live streaming.
