The Kingston IronKey™ Keypad 200 is a USB drive with device encryption that works independently of the operating system, featuring an alphanumeric keypad for easy PIN code entry.
The KP200 boasts 256-bit XTS-AES hardware-based encryption. Plus, it’s certified to meet the military-grade FIPS 140-3 standard level 3 (pending), ensuring top-notch security with enhanced protection. Its circuitry is covered with a special epoxy layer, making it nearly impossible to tamper with the components without causing damage; this tough epoxy defends against attacks on semiconductor components. Additionally, any signs of tampering are designed to alert the owner. The device includes password guessing protection and BadUSB protection through digitally signed firmware. The alphanumeric keypad is coated with a polymer layer, which protects the keys and conceals any analysis based on fingerprints left on the keys.
The KP200 features a built-in rechargeable battery that allows you to unlock the storage device without any software, after which it can be connected to any device supporting Type A USB mass storage. This gives users maximum freedom to choose between different platform types and operating systems.
Multiple PIN codes can be activated (admin and user). The keypad makes it easy to set memorable yet hard-to-guess alphanumeric PIN codes for both the admin and user. The admin can reset the user’s PIN and allow the use of the USB drive if the user’s PIN is forgotten or if the device locks due to reaching the maximum number of login attempts (10). If both the admin and user PIN codes are activated, the KP200 will lock the user’s PIN after 10 incorrect attempts; if the admin PIN is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row, the password guessing protection wipes the memory contents along with the encryption keys, irreversibly destroying the data and resetting the device.
This storage device also features two read-only modes (or write protection): a general mode set by the admin and a session-specific mode set by the user. The read-only modes can protect the memory from malware originating from untrusted systems. Additionally, the admin can upload content and set it to general read-only mode, allowing the user to view the information but not modify it.
