Vectran is a patented puncture protection developed by Continental that is lighter and more flexible, providing superior protection compared to traditional nylon puncture barriers. It does not compromise the tire’s rolling resistance. Vectran is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), similar to spider silk, spun from melted Vectra polymer and further processed into a multi-strand thread. Like spider silk, Vectran resists tearing exceptionally well while remaining lightweight.
