Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action and exploration adventure that takes the player to medieval Paris in 1499. Demonic forces have taken over the city, and darkness threatens to engulf everything. The player steps into the shoes of Rose Belmont, a young member of the Belmont family, and wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip to save the city. The story is set more than 20 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.
The series’ iconic Vampire Killer whip is central to the game. It can be used both for combat and movement in the environment. For example, the whip can be used to swing over obstacles and create new paths during exploration.
Defeating enemies and bosses rewards the player with new skills, weapons, and relics. These allow the player to develop their own play style. The Arkana system enables the use of defeated bosses’ powers in combat.
The game offers a vast and non-linear world that combines the classic Castlevania gothic atmosphere with a modern metroidvania structure. The map is full of secrets, traps, shortcuts, and challenging boss fights.
