The Beurer BM96 Cardio is a 2-in-1 device that measures both systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as pulse from the upper arm and also records an electrocardiogram (ECG). The large cuff (22–42 cm) fits even thicker arms. The device is easy to use with four touch buttons. You get measurement results quickly, displayed on a clear and large screen. For health monitoring, the device has 60 memory slots for two users.

The device features advanced arrhythmia detection that identifies atrial fibrillation to help prevent stroke. The patented rest indicator shows whether you have rested enough before the measurement to ensure the most reliable results. With the mobile app, you can view your data and track your body’s health progress anytime and anywhere. The app also allows you to easily show your measurement history, for example, during a doctor’s appointment. The user-friendly Beurer Health Manager Pro app is available in 22 languages, including Finnish.

Every adult should know their own blood pressure level. High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms. The only way to know your blood pressure value is by measuring it. Measuring blood pressure with a monitor is easy and convenient, even at home. Blood pressure is usually higher at the clinic than at home. When home measurements are done correctly, their results provide a more reliable indication of your blood pressure level than clinic measurements. Home measurement is best done with an upper-arm monitor.

Blood pressure tends to rise with age. Every other Finn has elevated blood pressure, while only one in five has ideal blood pressure. Although high blood pressure without symptoms may seem harmless, it should not be ignored. When high blood pressure is treated in time, serious complications caused by it can be effectively prevented.

Before measuring blood pressure, avoid heavy physical exertion, smoking, alcohol, coffee, tea, cola, and energy drinks for half an hour. The measurement environment should be quiet, unhurried, and warm. Blood pressure can be measured on either upper arm. Usually, right-handed people find it easier to measure on the left upper arm, and left-handed people on the right.

When starting blood pressure monitoring, it is good to check that there is no significant pressure difference (over 10 mmHg) between the arms. If there is a significant difference, measure on the arm with the higher pressure.
