The Austrian Audio OD505, designed for live performance use, delivers studio-quality sound both on stage and in recording sessions. Thanks to its active dynamic technology, it combines the advantages of a dynamic microphone with the precision of a condenser microphone. Utilizing Austrian Audio’s Open Acoustics technology, the ODC50-SC capsule is mounted to the OD505 as openly as possible. Minimizing the contact surfaces between the capsule and the mount eliminates unwanted reflections, producing a clear, natural, and resonance-free sound without coloration. The active capsule requires 48V phantom power and has a sensitivity of 4.4 mV/Pa, which is almost at the level of condenser microphones. The OD505’s active electronics maintain consistent sound quality regardless of the internal resistance of the microphone preamp or cable length. The passive lower capsule is phase-inverted and detects and eliminates handling noise. Thanks to this latest technology dual-capsule design and the 120 Hz Low Cut filter, the OD505 is practically immune to handling noise and thumps.
