Aqara Hub M2 home automation controller. The M2 home automation controller offers an easy and affordable start with home automation devices. The M2 is compatible with Aqara accessories and can support up to 128 additional devices*.
The Aqara Hub M2 supports a variety of network technologies and can be connected to the network wirelessly (Wi-Fi) or via an Ethernet cable. For Wi-Fi, the M2 also includes dual antenna technology, which improves wireless network coverage. In addition to Wi-Fi and Ethernet, the device also features Zigbee 3.0 and IR support (infrared). Built-in Bluetooth 5.0 is also included but is not yet activated for use.
Up to 32 Aqara Zigbee devices can be connected directly to the hub, but if MESH devices that extend the network are used, the number can be as high as 128. The controller can also be used with compatible accessories that operate over Wi-Fi. Built-in infrared support allows the device to control, for example, a TV or air conditioner. The device also has a built-in speaker, enabling it to function as a doorbell chime, alarm, or even an alarm clock.
The Aqara Hub is used by default with the manufacturer’s own app (Aqara Home), which is available for Android and iOS devices. The Aqara Hub M2 also includes full Apple HomeKit support. You can connect compatible Aqara Zigbee accessories to the hub, and the Hub makes the devices HomeKit compatible. Usage is possible directly through Apple’s own Home app, and you can create rules and automations with other devices connected to the HomeKit system. “Hey Siri, what is the temperature in the kids’ room?”
The M2 also supports virtual voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Note, Works with the Aqara app (no support for Mi Home app). The product package does not include a power supply. You can use a standard 5V 1-2A USB power supply. Does not function as an Apple HomeKit hub.
*If more than 32 Zigbee devices are added to the hub, Zigbee MESH devices such as smart plugs that extend the Zigbee network range must be used.
