Anker eufyCam 3 surveillance system with three cameras. The system includes three battery-powered 4K cameras and the HomeBase 3 base station. The cameras also feature an integrated solar panel, LED light, and two-way audio. The system supports intelligent self-learning BionicMind motion detection, and recordings triggered by motion detection are stored locally on the built-in memory of the base station (support for separately installed hard drives is also available).
The system is easy to set up. Included is the HomeBase 3 base station, which is initially connected via an Ethernet cable to your modem or wireless router (internet connection required). After installing the base station, the cameras are paired wirelessly with it. Installation and system use are managed through the eufy Security mobile app (Android, iOS).
The eufyCam 3 camera resolution has improved to an impressive 4K, 3840 x 2160 with a 135° diagonal field of view. The camera battery remains large at 13,400 mAh, and in addition to the large battery, the camera now also features an integrated solar panel on top. If the camera is installed so that the solar panel can be utilized, the panel eliminates the need for charging during sunny summer months. About 2-3 hours of charging per day is enough to keep the battery nearly full. Other camera features include an LED light that enables vivid color images even in dim or dark conditions (the camera also has traditional black-and-white IR night vision). The camera’s light can also flash when motion is detected. Additionally, the camera has two-way audio, and its speaker can function as a siren if needed (max 100 dB).
The eufyCam 3 records motion-detected events. The included base station has built-in 16 GB eMMC memory for camera recordings. The internal memory can roughly store about 45 days of recordings from four 4K eufyCam cameras (a maximum of 500 seconds of recording per day). The base station also has a 2.5″ SATA slot for a separately installed HDD/SSD hard drive (up to 16 TB). Local storage capacity can therefore reach several terabytes. All local recordings are encrypted using 128-bit AES encryption. The S380 base station can pair with up to 16 cameras and 34 sensors. The updated base station can function as a gateway for nearly all eufy and eufyCam devices (requires a later update for the base station). This means that even those Eufy devices that previously operated independently and stored data on their own internal memory can now work through a single base station.
A new feature is the intelligent BionicMind motion detection. The system can recognize people, faces, pets, and vehicles. For faces, the system is also self-learning. For example, by teaching the system the faces of family members, recognition accuracy improves over time with use. The app makes it easy to select whether to use intelligent detection and what the system should recognize. In addition to intelligent motion detection, the cameras feature a passive infrared sensor (PIR). The user can also define active detection zones in the image (activity zones). The camera immediately sends notifications upon motion or sound detection and starts recording.
The cameras operate on battery power with a built-in 13,400 mAh battery (non-replaceable). The large battery, solar panel, and intelligent recording enable up to one year of battery life under optimal conditions and usage. The camera battery can be charged, for example, directly via the USB port on the base station or by using a separate USB power adapter (5 V, 2 A).
eufyCam 3 supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant virtual assistants.
The S380 base station is compatible with previous EufyCam cameras. Future updates will add support for Eufy products that could not previously be paired with the base station. Compatible products and preliminary update schedule can be seen here.
Camera battery life is significantly affected by operating temperature, wireless signal strength, camera usage, and the number of motion detections. For solar charging, the camera must be installed so that the panel is exposed to sunlight (not, for example, under an eave).
