The Audeze MM-520 is an open planar magnetic studio headphone designed for professional mixing and mastering. The headphones were developed in collaboration with 18-time Grammy-winning mix engineer Manny Marroquin. The new SLAM™ (Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator) technology optimizes air pressure inside the ear cup, enhancing the impact of low frequencies and the spatiality of the soundstage while maintaining the neutrality of mid frequencies. The 90 mm planar magnetic drivers with Ultra-Thin Uniforce™ diaphragms and Fazor™ phase control deliver precise sound with low distortion.
Symmetric Linear Acoustic Modulator technology controls the air pressure inside the ear cup. Bass reproduction gains more impact and spatial imaging sharpens without compromising mid-frequency neutrality. This helps mixes translate consistently across different playback devices.
The 90 mm planar magnetic drivers utilize Fluxor™ magnet structure and Neodymium N50 magnets. The Ultra-Thin Uniforce™ diaphragm and Fazor™ phase control keep distortion below 0.1% at 100 dB SPL (1 kHz). Frequency response is 5 Hz – 50 kHz.
An 18-ohm impedance and 102 dB/1 mW sensitivity allow the headphones to be used with mixing consoles, audio interfaces, and laptops. The headphones perform well both in the studio and on the go. Recommended minimum power is 100 mW and maximum power handling is 5 W RMS.
Memory foam ear pads support long mixing sessions. Magnetic attachment makes ear pad replacement easy. The headphones weigh 555 g.
