The Ricoh GR IIIx HDF includes a new filter feature that enhances personal storytelling. Users can seamlessly switch to the new integrated HDF filter (Highlight Diffusion Filter) with a single action. The new filter emphasizes highlights and produces soft, softened images. This special effect filter diffuses highlights and creates a gentle blur around edges, evoking a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of cinematic photography or film-like visuals. The instant switching function of the HDF allows effortless transitions between two different visual styles: the sharp, focused image characteristic of the RICOH GR series and the softened, dreamy effects achieved with the HDF.
The shutter button has been changed to gray-silver to symbolize a simple visual expression variation. The Fn (Function) button’s default setting has also been changed to toggle the HDF on and off. Users can also choose another function as the Fn button’s default setting.
The RICOH GR IIIx HDF camera features a razor-sharp 26.1 mm GR lens, offering a versatile 40 mm field of view in 35 mm format, enabling a range of shooting styles from semi-wide to standard angle. The camera includes updated post-shooting functions for customized image processing.
The GR IIIx camera features a hybrid AF system that combines a contrast-type AF mechanism, superior in focusing accuracy, with a phase-detection AF mechanism that ensures fast focusing. During autofocus, this AF system accurately detects the subject’s face or eye, focuses on it, and displays the focus position on the LCD screen with an AF frame.
When the camera detects multiple faces, it automatically distinguishes the main subject from secondary subjects and indicates this in the focus frame. Photographers can also switch the main subject with a simple touchscreen operation.
Despite its compact size, the GR IIIx offers exceptional performance and versatility, making it ideal for dramatic street photography and much more.
