The Kingston IronKey Locker+ 50 USB drive offers consumer-level security features, including device-based AES encryption in XTS mode, protection against BadUSB attacks with digitally signed firmware, and safeguards against brute force attacks. The LP50 is also TAA compliant.
The LP50 now supports multiple password settings (administrator and user) to enhance password protection and passphrase modes. The complex password mode allows for passwords ranging from 6 to 16 characters, utilizing three out of four character sets. The new passphrase mode enables a PIN code, a phrase, a word list, or even a passphrase of 10 to 64 characters, which could be the lyrics of a specific song. The administrator can enable or reset the user password for data recovery purposes. To make password entry easier, a visibility icon can be activated, allowing the user to see the entered password. This feature helps reduce typing errors that could lead to failed login attempts. The brute force protection feature locks the user password after 10 consecutive incorrect entries and cryptographically wipes the drive if the administrator password is entered incorrectly 10 times in a row. Additionally, the built-in virtual keyboard protects passwords from keylogger and screenlogger malware.
