The Thermex ventilation control/boost module is made up of three different components: an electrically operated boost valve, a control circuit board, and a wireless switch (for wet area boosting). This module is compatible with all Thermex range hoods designed for “external motors.”

When the ventilation control/boost module is installed in a Thermex range hood, it allows the hood to be connected to two different ventilation systems:

  1. The range hood controls a peak extractor that also removes air from other rooms in the apartment (bathroom, toilet, etc.).
  2. The range hood can control a unit-specific heat recovery ventilation (HRV) system (with single-phase AC fans, having a combined power of max. 400W, and NOTE: only fan motor controls can be connected to the range hood control circuit, NOT for example pre- or post-heating radiators). In this case, the speed of the peak extractor / HRV unit can be adjusted. The peak extractor / HRV unit is always running at a basic ventilation speed (power adjustable). If the peak extractor / HRV unit needs to be completely turned off (e.g., for lighting a fireplace or maintenance), this can be done using the wireless switch. When the user starts cooking and increases the speed from the range hood, the electrically operated boost valve automatically opens, focusing the suction on the range hood. The boost valve remains open as long as the user sets the speed to 0 on the range hood, at which point the peak extractor / HRV unit returns to the basic ventilation speed. The boost valve can be adjusted to open/close partially or fully. The wireless switch can be installed, for example, on the bathroom wall, and when taking a shower/sauna or doing laundry, the user can press the switch, which will set the peak extractor / HRV unit to full power, enhancing air extraction from other areas. One press = 30 minutes of boost or two presses = 60 minutes of boost. The boost valve will remain in the closed position in the range hood.
