The Jalo Helsinki Kupu smoke alarm is designed by Harri Koskinen and has received awards for its design. The Kupu smoke alarm is available with five different colored fabric surfaces as well as a chrome-finished version.
Kupu operates with optical smoke detection technology. Photoelectric, or optical detection, is the most common and reliable technology in smoke alarms; when smoke is detected, the alarm emits a loud and continuous 85 dB warning sound. Jalo smoke alarms also feature a diagnostic function that regularly checks itself to ensure proper operation throughout the device’s lifespan.
The alarm features quick installation with 3M mounting tape or screws intended for installation, both included in the package. The smoke alarm activates upon installation by simply removing the protective film from the tape. Authorities recommend replacing smoke alarms at least every ten years; the Kupu smoke alarm does not require a battery change during its recommended lifespan.
