The battery-powered Reolink Go Ranger PT surveillance camera can be installed almost anywhere. It only requires a working 4G LTE network at the installation site. There is no need for a wireless network or broadband. The Go Ranger PT camera body is also motorized, allowing you to control the camera directly from the app by panning or tilting the image. This way, you can monitor a larger area with just one camera. The camouflaged Ranger PT also works excellently as a trail camera.
Setup is easy and quick. The Go Ranger PT comes with a built-in battery and a pre-installed 32 GB microSD memory card (replaceable, supports up to 128 GB). The user only needs to charge the camera and then install their own operator’s SIM card (nanoSIM). The camera’s resolution is excellent 4K, 3840 x 2160 with a 110° diagonal field of view. An excellent feature for trail camera use is the IR lights invisible to the human eye. The camera includes 8 pcs of 940 nm IR lights that do not shine or glow in the dark.
The camera records by default to the microSD memory card. It has a PIR motion sensor that supports intelligent detections. The camera can separately detect people, vehicles, and animals in the image. When motion is detected, the camera immediately sends a notification, takes a few photos, and records video. If desired, the user can set the camera to take only photos or record only video upon detection.
The camera comes with a camouflaged 6 W solar panel, which almost entirely eliminates the need for charging during sunny months. The camera is used and managed with the user-friendly Reolink app, available for both Android and iOS devices. Finnish is selectable as the app’s language. In addition to the mobile app, the Reolink Client desktop application is also available (macOS/Windows).
Reolink Cloud service:
Reolink launched cloud storage for selected Reolink camera models at the end of April 2022. Users can choose from Basic Plan, Standard Plan, and Premier Plan storage options. The Basic Plan can be activated for one Reolink camera and is currently free. The Basic Plan stores 7 days of recording history in the cloud (max. 1 GB). The Standard and Premier plans are paid services offering longer recording history, support for multiple cameras, more storage space, and better alert notifications (depending on the camera).
Learn more about the service and terms here. Cloud storage is optional and works alongside memory card recording. Terms and prices of the cloud service may change in the future.
The average battery life of the Reolink Go Ranger PT camera varies depending on usage. The camera’s battery can last up to a month. Battery life is significantly affected by operating temperature, mobile network strength, camera usage, and the number of motion detections.
A subscription with a fixed monthly fee and no data cap is recommended. Data usage depends on the selected resolution and bitrate.
Note, Reolink Go Ranger PT requires a SIM card and subscription to operate.
